Gaynor is Operations Director at the Railway Industry Association (RIA), responsible for membership, marketing, IT, business administration and events. She recently led the transformation of RIA’s digital platform, whilst increasing the level of service for RIA’s expanding membership base.
Before joining RIA in 2014, she spent 18 months in a large private company’s global sales team, developing strategic partnerships and managing sales operations.
Her career started with a degree in Health & Safety at the MOD’s research agency, leading on safety, business development and technology transfer projects.
In 2001, Gaynor joined RSSB (Rail Safety & Standards Board), managing the cross-industry programme to improve operational safety following the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster. She established resources still in use today, supporting culture change for safety critical staff; the RED videos and ‘opsweb’ site. Gaynor also designed and delivered research, and later supported development of the industry’s technology and innovation strategy.
Gaynor worked as a consultant on the messaging in the winning £110M bid for Crossrail’s Whitechapel station.
Taking a break from rail in 2012, she conceived and then delivered an innovative concept – a ‘coworking and crèche’ social enterprise model – receiving funding, and media attention.
